A 100% natural product against the larvae of both pests
Natura Palm created, developed and tested a product designed to destroy the larvae of the red palm weevil and the palm moth. Its formula is confidential.
What it changes
It addresses the four limits that current solutions leave open.
| Unmet need | Current solutions | Natura Palm |
|---|---|---|
| Act on both pests | Injection targets the weevil only | Aimed at the larvae of both |
| Stay natural | The injected insecticide is highly toxic to bees | 100% natural product |
| Reach the larva inside the trunk | Biocontrol with "variable and partial" efficacy | Trial results to be published |
| Cost less than felling | Biocontrol: €2,000–4,300 over ten years | Cost per palm to be established |
What we will prove
Before it can be sold, the product must demonstrate its efficacy and be authorised, like any plant protection product.
A product that kills pests on a plant falls under EU Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, natural or not. It can be sold or used only once authorised in the country concerned, and its active substances must first be approved at EU level.
Trials can start now, under a trial permit. Depending on the formula, lighter routes exist: a basic substance, approved without time limit, or a low-risk substance. The route will be chosen with a regulatory specialist.
What this site does not do. It does not sell the product and publishes no result that has not been measured. Trial results will be published here as they become available.
